What is it?

Dramatically hailed in the media as the “Vampire” or “Dracula” face-lift, Platelet-Rich-Plasma (PRP) Therapy is a completely natural method for skin rejuvenation and repair. By harnessing the natural healing power of your very own blood, this treatment can visibly reduce loose skin and wrinkles in your face (especially around your eyes, mouth, and nose), in the neck and on the back of your hands.

PRP Therapy can be effective for treating scars, such as acne and surgical scars, and stretch marks. Such as its versatility, this type of procedure can even help battle hair loss in both men and women, especially when combined with other hair loss treatments. Our doctors will discuss your needs and the treatment’s benefits during your no-obligation, comprehensive consultation.

How does it work?

Our own blood plasma contains “platelets”, which carry many powerful proteins and enzymes known as “growth factors”. These miraculous, natural elemenets promote the healing of damaged skin, including skin that has loosened or lost volume due to the natural ageing process.

During PRP Therapy, our skilled doctor takes a small amount of your blood. This blood sample is then processed and filtered to isolate your plasma that contains the platelets. The doctor injects this platelet-rich plasma into your treatable areas, causing the fluid to release its proteins and work their natural magic in your skin. The surrounding cells begin to proliferate and repair damage. Collagen production is enhanced and your skin increases in volume. Over time, your skin becomes firmer, radiant and rejuvenated.

PRP for hair loss

In the last few years, PRP therapy has emerged as an intriguing preventative treatment for hair loss, suitable for both men and women. By separating your own blood (as described above) and then injecting the new Platelet-Rich-Plasma sample into your scalp, it is believed that any regenerative cells around your targeted hair follicles are kickstarted into action. The result is that new hair growth can be promoted, even with follicles that had previously been inactive.

PRP therapy can be used in conjunction with all hair loss medications, such as Minoxidil and DHT blockers, such as finasteride. You can even use it to complement any hair transplant procedures you may have had elsewhere, the injections working to stimulate the newly planted follicles in your scalp.

As with all hair loss treatments, results vary from patient to patient, but PRP therapy has shown to improve hair calibre and hair thickness. For optimal results we recommend that you repeat PRP procedures every three to four months.

How long does the treatment take to work?

For skin and face concerns, it will take a few weeks for the results of the PRP treatment to show. However, with two to three top-up treatments, the results of PRP therapy can last for up to 12, or even 18 months.

What is the downtime?

There is no recovery time with PRP therapy and side-effects are rare. Occasionally some patients experience bruising and redness in the injected areas.

Does it hurt?

Don not be misled by the “vampire” moniker! Pain is minimal with just a few quick and easy injections.

How many treatments are needed?

Typically, patients require two to three top-up treatments to maintain results that can last for as long as 18 months.

For hair growth, we usually recommend treatments every three to four months.

We also offer interest free finance on treatments above £280 and on selected packages.

What is PRP treatment good for?

PRP injections are used to treat joint injuries, tendonitis, muscular injuries, ruptured tendons, and arthritis-related discomfort. Additionally, they are becoming more typical for aesthetic operations.

Why is PRP so painful?

PRP treatment needs time to take effect. It is not like getting an injection of steroids, which would instantly make you feel better. Since we are producing swelling in the area that was previously uncomfortable, you can initially experience additional discomfort. Blood cells must enlarge for you to begin receiving long-term healing assistance from them.

Do PRP injections really work?
PRP injections can be helpful in treating male pattern baldness since they both stop hair loss and encourage the creation of new hair. PRP may also help to stimulate hair growth following hair transplants.

Please note that results vary from person to person due to lifestyle, external and internal factors, and genetic predispositions.
