How do Anti-Wrinkle Injections work?

As we age, overactive muscle movement gradually wears away collagen – that’s the skin’s structuring protein – causing our skin to crease. Tox injections relax these muscles, smoothing out your facial lines and preventing the formation of wrinkles. While this popular product specifically targets treated muscles, it also allows the surrounding muscles to function normally. That means you can smile, laugh, frown or pull whatever face you want to – just with less wrinkles!

How long does the treatment take?

Anti-Wrinkle treatment has been a mainstay of the cosmetic industry since the 1980s due to its remarkable results combined with the fact that it has minimal risks and no recovery time. For facial lines and wrinkles, results are noticeable from just two to 14 days after the injection and last for up to six months.

What is the downtime for Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

Downtime is minimal and you can usually return to normal activities right away.

Do Anti-Wrinkle Injections hurt?

Anti Wrinkle injections are relatively pain-free procedures. Just a quick injection(s) and that’s it!

How many treatments are needed?

Anti Wrinkle injections for facial lines are not permanent; we recommend repeat treatments every three to six months to maintain the effects. Over time, you may notice that the repeat treatments work more effectively, and tend to last longer with each subsequent treatment.

Other conditions treated with tox injections (see below) will require slightly different intervals. Our specialist doctor will discuss this with you during your initial, no-obligation consultation.

Additional treatments with Tox Injections:

Migraines

If you suffer from headaches and migraines, tox injections can help keep them at bay without the worry of side effects. The product is injected by our specialist doctor into a number of specific areas in the head, neck and shoulders. The small needle feels like a pin-prick or bug-bite and the treatment works by blocking the sensory nerves that relay pain messages to the brain. It also relaxes the muscles, making them less sensitive to pain. In your consultation, your doctor will explain the procedure and assess your suitability for the treatment.

Grinding Teeth

Teeth-grinding under stress and during sleep (called in medical terms “Bruxism”) can trigger headaches, hearing loss, insomnia, and social and relationship difficulties. If you suffer from Bruxism, tox injections are one possible solution, helping you to also prevent the wearing down and loosening of teeth. The treatment works by relaxing your Maseter muscles, which in turn, reduces the grinding. The results are quick and can last for months.

Excessive Sweating

“Hyperhidrosis” (excessive sweating) affects a large number of men and women, and the condition can leave the affected areas constantly damp, making everyday activities difficult to carry out, and causing embarrassment to the sufferer.

Tox injections temporarily block the chemical signals between your stimulating nerves and your sweat glands, putting an end to excessive sweating. It’s as simple as that. Common areas for treatment include palms, chest, armpits, and the soles of the feet.

You should notice results from between just two to 14 days and these last for up to eight months. We usually recommend you have repeat treatments every six to eight months to maintain the effects. Over time, results can actually last longer with each subsequent treatment.

In order to maximise the treatment effect and minimise the risk of side-effects please abide by the following:

Avoid sun beds for at least 48 hours after treatment
Do not do any strenuous exercise or training on the day of the treatment
Do not lie down or go to bed for four hours after your treatment
Feel free to apply your usual facial creams/make up immediately
Do not take Brufen, Neurofen, or other non-steroidals on the day of the treatment, as this can exaggerate bruising
If you have to take something for pain, please use Paracetamol

Please note that the effects of Anti-Wrinkle Injections will generally last for a shorter period if you are a smoker and if you use sun beds regularly.

Taking care of yourself after the procedure is crucial. By following the above you will enjoy your results for longer.
