Prepare your skin for optimal results
To ensure your skin is in the best condition ahead of your treatment, please follow these steps:
Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and fake tan for at least 72 hours prior.
Discontinue use of retinols, acids, or exfoliating products for 5 days before treatment.
Do not undergo waxing, laser treatments or peels on the treatment area for 2 weeks prior.
Let us know if you are prone to cold sores — preventative medication may be advised.
Stay well hydrated and eat a light meal before your session.
Support healing and protect your results
Your skin may appear flushed or feel warm and tight post-treatment — this is normal and usually settles within 24–48 hours.
To support recovery and enhance results:
Avoid touching or applying products to the skin for at least 6 hours post-treatment.
Use only the aftercare products provided or recommended by your practitioner.
Avoid makeup for 24 hours.
Do not expose the area to direct sunlight or heat (sunbathing, saunas, intense exercise) for 48–72 hours.
Apply broad-spectrum SPF daily to protect healing skin.
Avoid exfoliating products or active ingredients (retinol, AHAs/BHAs) for 5–7 days.
Avoid swimming or high-risk environments for infection for 3–5 days.
Yes. Dermapen 4™ microneedling is suitable for all skin types, including darker skin tones, as it does not involve heat or aggressive resurfacing.
Downtime is minimal. You may experience redness and mild swelling for 24–48 hours, similar to mild sunburn. Most people resume normal activities the next day.
You should avoid makeup for at least 24 hours post-treatment to allow your skin to heal properly. Mineral makeup may be used after this period if advised by your practitioner.
Side effects are typically mild and temporary. They may include redness, sensitivity, or slight flaking. Rarely, minor pinpoint bleeding or infection can occur if aftercare isn’t followed.
Microneedling is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to limited safety data and the skin’s increased sensitivity during this time.
