What is LED Light Therapy?

LED Light Therapy is a popular skincare and hair growth treatment that can be tailored to deliver a wide range of benefits, depending on your goals and needs. It is especially effective when used in conjunction with other treatments, or as part of your ongoing skincare regimen.

Through repeated use, it can help deliver the following benefits:

  • Brightening skin complexion and improving skin tone
  • Preventing and controlling acne and regulating oil production
  • Treating skin pigmentation disorders, such as sun damage
  • Rejuvenating skin by improving blood circulation and stimulating collagen
  • Aiding hair growth and improving hair quality by improving blood circulation

At Vie Aesthetics, we feature this treatment as one of the 10 steps in our signature facial, the VIE AquaFacial. We also offer it as a complementary treatment in our Hair Loss Management packages, such as the VieStem Hair with Regenera Activa.

Our skin experts and doctors will help you to decide whether this treatment can be beneficial to you during your comprehensive, no-obligation consultations.

How does it work?

LED stands for Light-Emitting Diode. This treatment uses different wavelengths of light penetrate the skin at varying depths in order to trigger biological processes such as tissue repair. Our Vie LED arch allows our practitioners to select from four colours of light, depending on your goals and needs.

  • Red Light: This is predominately used for skin health and anti-ageing. It stimulates the production of collagen, which is your skin’s structural protein. Skin retains its firmness and is less susceptible to fine lines and wrinkles. The Red Light also improves blood circulation.
  • Yellow Light: This helps brighten the skin and improve tone.
  • Green Light: This is for dealing with pigmentation problems, such as those caused by the sun. It works by stopping melanocytes from overproducing pigments in the skin, which causes discolouration.
  • Blue Light: This is for treating and preventing acne breakouts. It works by minimising bacteria in the skin, while regulating the oil produced by the sebaceous glands.

Can it help with hair growth?

It has been shown to improve the quality of your hair and aid hair growth, especially when combined as part of a wider Hair Loss Management Program.

The special light rays emitted by the DermaluxLED Flex MD energise and stimulate the scalp, triggering the process for building new proteins and regenerating cells. As such, it can help boost the hair’s overall health and thickness.

We often combine this treatment with other hair loss treatments, such as Regenera Activa in order to help you achieve the best possible outcome. If hair loss or dull, thinning locks are a concern for you, our doctor will discuss the best options for you during your consultation.

How long does LED Light Therapy take to work?

It works right away, but its results are cumulative and gradual. You will usually notice improvements over time and after repeated sessions. It is effective for maintaining healthy skin as part of a regimen.

How many LED Light Therapy treatments are needed?

As described above, it is a cumulative treatment, meaning that repeat procedures are required to reap its benefits. Results improve over time and is best used as part of an ongoing regimen or as a longer course. Your practitioner will be able to advise you on your best course of action, in line with your own individual concerns and goals.

What is the downtime of LED Light Therapy?

There is no downtime. You can return to your normal activities straight after your treatment.

Does it hurt?

There is no pain or discomfort with the treatments. You simply lie down on a bed beneath our Vie Arch and relax! There are no injections and treatments are completely non-invasive.
