What concerns may require Dermal Filler Dissolving?

Misplaced Filler
Sometimes filler can be injected into the wrong area causing a different result to what you had originally hoped for.

Overfilled Area
Overfilling is a common concern after having dermal filler, many people follow trends and after the trend is over, they may wish to revert to their natural appearance. The ‘duck lips’ trend of 2012 is a prime example of this.

Lumps or unevenness
In some cases, filler can become lumpy. In many cases, the filler will disperse within the week after treatment, however if you are left with an uneven result or lumps, dissolving your filler may be the best option.

Complications
Other complications can occur, like with any cosmetic procedure. If you notice delayed reaction to dermal filler and continuous swelling or puffiness, dissolving the filler right away is the safest option

TREATMENT AT A GLANCE

ALERT!

It is mandatory to have a Patch Test before having any dermal filler dissolved. This is a Medical Requirement.

How does Filler Dissolving work?

Fortunately, dissolving Dermal Fillers that contain Hyaluronic Acid, is relatively simple and means that having Dermal filler is a reversible non-surgical treatment. In order to dissolve the filler that has been injected, our expert Doctors use a substance called hyaluronidase. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid- the substance that many of our Dermal Fillers are made up of. When injected, the hyaluronidase speeds up the natural dissolving process of dermal filler in the area treated. Hyaluronidase is a synthetic form of a naturally-occuring enzyme within our bodies, this makes the risk of Dermal Filler Dissolving minimal.

This material is a prescription-only drug and can only be obtained by Doctor’s and Nurse Prescribers.

Is there any Downtime involved?

You may experience slight swelling or bruising after having your dermal filler dissolved. This is completely normal and could last for 2-3 days, although if it persists it is important to contact your injector.

Can I have Dermal Filler again?

Indeed! After having your Dermal Filler dissolved, we typically advise waiting 2 weeks before having more filler injected. Many of our clients have visited for corrective treatment looking to remove and replace filler after having treatment elsewhere.
