What are Definisse™ Threads?

We’re starting a new age of facial sculpting at Vie Aesthetics. For efficient, long-lasting effects, Definisse™ Threads are intended to give both instant and sustained lifting. Three distinct types of threads are included in our line of superior cosmetic medicine treatments:

Definisse™ free floating threads:
• For soft tissue repositioning to be used on the cheeks

Definisse™ double needle threads:
• For cheek, jawline, oval and lateral reshaping to be used on the eyebrow or lower jaw

Definisse™ ancorage threads:
• For antigravitational reshaping of the midface

How does it work?

Barbs on the threads grab onto ptotic face regions and realign the soft tissues. In addition to repositioning sagging tissue, threads with barbs directed in a convergent manner have the tendency to collect tissue. This twofold action is particularly significant for regions that require volume remodelling, such as the zygomatic area. Thanks to the barbs and the particular substance, the tissue repositioning also has a revitalising effect that stimulates the production of collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin.

How safe is it?

A less invasive and more comfortable surgical option to a regular facelift is a thread surgery. designed for persons who are displaying early ageing symptoms, such little face drooping. Due of these benefits, patients who do not want to have invasive operations tend to be interested in the treatment.

How long does it take to work?

The mechanical repositioning action of the thread insertion might produce an instantaneous reshaping outcome. Once implanted, the threads disappear beneath the skin, leaving no visible scars.

Use an ice pack to prevent swelling and bruising
Your face may be taped to restrict movement, especially the areas where the procedure has taken place – this is usually recommended for a week
Sleep on your back facing upwards for week after the procedure as this may undo the effects of the procedure
Avoid excessive mouth opening and massage of the face of any kind for three weeks
It is recommended you elevate your head while sleeping on the first day to reduce the risk of swelling
You should avoid any non-strenuous activities on the day after the procedure, and normal activities can be resumed within 7 days after the procedure. However, you should avoid high impact sports for 14 days after the procedure
Refrain from applying make-up for as long as possible (minimum 24 hours)
Wash, shave and dry face gently without rubbing or massaging (minimum 5 days)
Avoid over-exposure to direct sunlight and do not use tanning beds or saunas for 2 weeks after the procedure
Avoid dental surgery for 3 weeks after the procedure
Make sure you keep hydrated
You will be given instructions on proper after care to reduce the risk of complications e.g. how to manage your pain or if an infection or allergy occurs
Immediately after the implant it is normal to have irregularities and skin depressions which will disappear within a few days
Reactions such as erythema (redness), oedema (swelling) and needle-induced trauma with consequent blood haematomas (bruising) may occur but usually resolve within few hours to a few days with or without additional medical therapy
Allergic reactions, infections, persistent granulomatous formulations (small area of inflammation) may occur. However, these can be resolved with a topical or systemic therapy as advised by your doctor
Contact your doctor if you experience any excessive pain or discomfort

Is it worth it?

In addition, by promoting collagen formation in the dermis, threads can reverse the effects of ageing. Another way to think of threads is as a genuine “therapy” for ageing skin. After a thread surgery, there is almost little chance of scarring, significant bruising, bleeding, or other problems.

Is threads the same as a face lift?

Thread reshaping is a minimally invasive surgery that redefines the shape of the face by repositioning sagging tissues. Tissue can be made tighter and the application area given more volume by the introduction of threads.
