As part of our wellness clinic at Vie Aesthetics, we are introducing PSA Testing. PSA Testing is a simple blood test which helps to analyse the PSA (Prostate-specific antigen) levels in the blood. High levels of PSA can be a sign of prostate cancer among other things.
People with prostate cancer rarely discover symptoms until the later stages of the disease, so PSA testing is an incredibly helpful way to keep an eye on your PSA levels.
Many men over the age of 50 are offered PSA testing by their GP, but any male over 18 is welcome to have a PSA test as part of the Vie Aesthetics Wellness Clinic.
The process is quick and simple, taking a PSA test requires just a small blood sample. This is then sent off to our lab for analysis and a report is returning typically within 3-4 days. Your Practitioner will contact you to discuss the results of your test during a follow up appointment.
The big ‘C’ is never an easy conversation to have, but it is important not to allow a diagnosis to define you. Dealing with the result that you have Prostate cancer can be scary, but there are many support networks available not only to help with healthcare but with emotional and financial support for you and your family. Support services like Cancer Research, Prostate Cancer UK and MacMillan are there to help you deal with your diagnosis.
