You Ask, We Answer: Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Injections

06-07-2021 | Posted in: Body Treatments

We are often asked about the effectiveness and possible downsides of Aqualyx® Injections. For some people, this method of dissolving localised fat and tightening the skin seems too good to be true. And to be honest, like many of our clients, when I had the treatment myself, I was initially sceptical too. But the results spoke for themselves: once the initial swelling started to go down, and 3 weeks later, I started observing a transformation of the area that had been injected. The unwanted bulge started to shrink and my skin in the area appeared smoother and rejuvenated.  Furthermore, results are natural and long-lasting.

So, if you are looking for a non-surgical solution for targeted and localised body contouring, you may want to read today’s blog with the most frequently asked questions about Aqualyx . We hope to shed more light on this procedure, and help you make up your mind and decide whether Aqualyx is something you want to consider.

How does Aqualyx work?

Aqualyx injections are a significantly less invasive, non-surgical alternative to traditional liposuction. This procedure aids the elimination of stubborn fat in both the face and body through the digestion of fat. These fat dissolving injections are administered into the target area and liquify the fat cells. This enables the lipids to be flushed out naturally and permanently via your body’s lymphatic system. The results are effective, quick and minimally invasive.

Can Aqualyx® be used for weight loss?

Aqualyx® is a body contouring and skin tightening procedure. It is not a weight loss treatment. It is a great way for reducing fat in specific areas of the body or face, though.

Is Aqualyx® suitable for men and women?

Yes, it works for men and women alike. Many of our clients are men and find this an easy, risk-free and affordable non-surgical solution to get rid of belly, “love handles” and chest fat pockets or “man boobs”.

Why does Aqualyx hurt? / Are Aqualyx injections painful?

During the Aqualyx treatment, an anaesthetic is normally mixed into the solution prior to the injection thus providing greater comfort and a fairly pain-free procedure. As with all treatments that involve needles, the injections may sting for a few seconds but overall, it is a well-taken treatment. Our doctor uses a cannula for the injections, which makes the treatment safe and painless.

What are the side effects of Aqualyx?

Some of the potential side effects of Aqualyx may include skin irritation, redness, swelling and tenderness in the treated areas. These side effects are expected to disappear around three to six days after your treatment. Furthermore, some people may experience bruising but this and other side effects will usually resolve within a few days; no major side effects are associated with Aqualyx.

Who cannot have Aqualyx®?

You may not be suitable for Aqualyx® Fat Dissolving Injections if you are pregnant or lactating, or suffer from lipodystrophy, or various pathological conditions, such as auto-immune diseases.

Are results from Aqualyx® Fat Melting Injections permanent?

Yes, results with Aqualyx® are long-lasting. The treatment destroys localised body fat cells for good. However, note that it won’t stop you from storing new fat in the future. The remaining fat cells can grow with weight gain, so we always stress the importance of following a healthy lifestyle in order to maintain a stable weight following treatment.

What areas can be treated using Aqualyx?

Aqualyx is designed to be used locally and the injections are effective in treating almost all small deposits of fat. The most popular treatment areas are on the chin, thigh, hips, arms, stomach and lower abdomen, “man-boobs” and knees.

Aqualyx is used to treat pockets of fat which are challenging to remove via exercise and diet alone, thus it is important to note that it is not a weight loss solution. The Injections work by dissolving localised fat but the added bonus is that this procedure achieves  tightening your skin from the inside too. Hence, the bulges that bother you  start going down and eventually can disappear and your skin becomes smoother. And the results look natural and are long-lasting. Please note that results vary between individuals.

How long does it take for Aqualyx results to show?

The number of Aqualyx treatments required varies depending on the size of the fatty deposit being treated. Generally, 1-3 treatments are needed for small areas such as the chin and 2-6 sessions for larger areas such as the thighs. Repeat sessions should be spaced out at four to six weekly intervals and clients should expect results to appear approximately three to six weeks after the initial treatment.

It is also interesting to note that results can be optimised and sped up if Aqualyx treatments are combined with Ultrasound Cavitation Therapy. Through this, the Aqualyx liquid solution can be dispersed faster in the targeted area and the treatment effects are maximised.

Can Aqualyx go wrong? Are Aqualyx injections safe?

Aqualyx is a medical aesthetic treatment and is only safe is performed by a medical professional. As such, it is a safe, effective fat dissolving injection treatment which reduces fat cells in the target area via non-invasive means. Unlike surgical procedures such as liposuction, there are limited risks to Aqualyx, thus providing much safer solutions for clients.

What is the aftercare for Aqualyx?

It is recommended that clients follow aftercare suggestions to enforce the results from the treatment and to minimise the risk of side-effects. These can include avoiding any strenuous exercise on the day of treatment and ensuring that no  cosmetics are applied area for at least 12 hours following your treatment. If you do experience any type of pain, Paracetamol can be taken for maximum comfort during the healing process.
