Say HELLO to Autumn and GOODBYE to Autumn Skin

Out with the old and in with the new

With the arrival of the colder seasons, most of us will be switching out our summer wardrobes, substituting swimwear for cosy sweaters and kaftans for cardigans. As we start to wrap up for the colder weather and with the sun going into hibernation for the foreseeable, NOW is the perfect time to get started with a course of laser hair removal. If you want to achieve smooth, hair-free skin for Summer 2023, now is the time to start, and we have you covered with our selection of hair removal techniques.

Diolaze Laser Hair Removal

Suitability: This is the gold standard and can be used on all skin types and tones.

Area(s): Versatile across the face and body; Diolaze can be used to treat large areas.

Results: A reduction in hair is seen after two to three weeks of your first session. However, Diolaze Laser Hair Removal is a treatment course so, multiple sessions will be required to achieve your optimal outcome.

How it works: A diode laser beam penetrates your skin in the targeted area, which heats the roots of your unwanted hairs. This kills both the hairs and their follicles, preventing future regrowth.

Pain: Mild

Skinpulse Super Rejuvenation (SSR) Laser Treatment

Suitability: Can be used on all skin types and tones.

Area(s): Depends on the breadth and severity of the skin concern. Although, SSR may be used across the skin and body.

Results: Again, these are dependent on the issues you are treating, some may return desired results a lot faster than others. For example, pigmentation issues may only take 3 sessions whilst, facial rejuvenation may take 6 sessions and even these treatment plans vary depending on the individual.

How it works: Emits high-energy pulses of light into the skin, which can treat and even reverse a number of concerns. These include: facial rejuvenation and wrinkle reduction, acne, pigmentation, age spots and rosacea, vascular lesions and thread veins.

Pain: Mild

Hair V Go

Suitability: Only suitable for vellus hair “peach fuzz” (fine, downy hair) and so it is not suitable for coarser, darker hairs.

Area(s): Specifically used to remove excessive vellus hair from the face or neck areas.

Results: Treatments are both gradual and cumulative, meaning that results will become more and more noticeable with each session until desired outcome is reached.

How it works: Hair V Go is a high-pH treatment that targets the keratin in the hair (keratin is the hair’s main component and protein structure). A special paste is first applied to your problem area. This breaks down the keratin and dissolves the hair deep within its follicle. The stem cells in the hair are also gradually disabled, thus preventing any repeat growth.

Pain: None

Choosing your Laser Hair Removal Treatment Carefully

In laser hair removal treatments, a diode laser beam penetrates your skin and targets the pigmented hair follicle, Aimee Piper explains. ‘The laser beam heats the life cell of the unwanted hairs, to disrupt, thin and weaken it – like IPL,’ she says. If IPL is like a torch, laser hair removal is like a laser pen. It’s more targeted.

‘Even the most stubborn of hairs are affected during laser hair removal, but it’s important to use the right device for different skin types to avoid adverse reactions and skin damage,’ says Amie Hibbert. ‘Safety protocols, training and experience of practitioners are things you need to research before you proceed, and patch tests are a must.’

✅ Pros: Minor side effects, no ingrown hairs, precise, effective, long-lasting results. Laser is suitable for darker skin tones.

❎ Cons: Lengthy process, not all work on fair hair, must avoid sunlight before and after treatment.

The Ideal Skin-Vestment for the busy lifestyle

In life, we encounter many daily challenges; from juggling work and families to trying to stay active and have a social life, and that’s just the half of it! So why not remove shaving from the equation?

Re-growing hairs can be an issue, no matter your hair, skin type or gender. From uneven bikini lines, bushy sideburns, stomach and even nipples. Shaving can be tricky in small, intimate or hard to reach areas, often resulting in a painful and itchy rash when the hair grows back (and then the whole process has to be repeated all over again!)

So, then what’s the alternative?

Well, the other option or solution is waxing.

But waxing is not only expensive, it’s painful and the results are minimal. It may take a bit longer for hairs to re-grow, as opposed to shaving, but you also get added ingrown hairs, which means angry, irritated skin (so much for that smooth skin) and it doesn’t really reduce the overall re-growth. Then there’s the hairy in-between stage as the hair’s got to grow long enough to wax again. Not worth it!

Ultimately, how can targeted hair removal treatments give you smooth and hairless skin?

These types of treatments target hair reduction at the source. Whatever the medium, be it lasers or high-pH pastes, these treatments remove hair whilst reducing regrowth and in-time stopping hair-regrowth all together.

Last year, over one million people – all tired of waxing, plucking, and shaving – booked in for laser hair removal to zap away unwanted hair for good. It’s recommended you don’t sunbathe between sessions – and the season’s plummeting temperatures will be taking care of that. Ergo, with Autumn here and Winter approaching, it is the perfect time to book in for hair-free skin Summer 2023!
