5 Tips To Stay Fresh While Camping

09-08-2022 | Posted in: Blogs, Wellness & Lifestyle

Camping is really simple: You arrive in the great outdoors, set up your roof top tent, build a fire, get a drink, then sit back and unwind. But if you intend to go camping for more than a single or two nights, several daily tasks might become challenging. One of the largest is maintaining personal cleanliness while avoiding goods that could harm the environment. That is why we are here. When spending time on the trail, we picked up some advice on how to stay fresh while camping. Here are 5 eco-friendly tips for staying fresh while camping.

1. Baby Wipes. With no access to a shower, baby wipes or biodegradable wipes will be your best bet for freshening up after a day of activities in the wilderness.

2. Dry Shampoo. No shower access means no hair-washing. Spraying dry shampoo into your hair when it’s looking a little dull will absorb the oils that have built up, taking away that ‘greasy’ look. Most dry shampoos are scented too so they are great for making your hair appear and smell freshly washed. If you have time before your trip, you can also attempt to train your hair. Cutting back your hair-wash to once or twice a week (be patient, this may take a while!)  will train your hair to stay fresher for longer and not be greasy so soon after washing. Doing this in the months leading up to your trip should allow you to go at least a week without washing your hair!

3. Micellar Water. With no shower access may also mean no running water, making it difficult to find a way to wash your face and do your normal skincare routine. A micellar water is a great option for camping as no running water is needed. Simply pour some micellar water onto a cotton wool pad to take off the oils and dirt off your face from the day. We love the Defence Solution Micellar Water by DIBI Milano which is specifically designed for removing makeup on sensitive and reactive skin, which may be just what you need after spending your day battling the elements of the UK weather. This is available to purchase at Vie Derma.

4. Hand Sanitiser. The best way to stay hygienic with no access to running water is keeping hand sanitizer with you at all times, and it a great substitute to hot soap and water. Being around nature all day will generally mean that you may struggle to keep your hand hygiene intact, so it’s also important to avoid touching your face to avoid the spread of bacteria and acne from forming. We love the Vie Aesthetics Hand Sanitiser as it is an aerosol based spray, leaving your hand feeling clean without that ‘sticky feeling’.

5. Hygiene Kit. Packing a hygiene kit including deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, a flannel and soap is probably the best way to stay fresh whilst camping. Even if you do not have access to a shower, simply using bottled or tap water and a little soap may be all you need to freshen yourself up every morning. In addition to this, bringing along a collapsible bowl with you may make it much easier for you to have a wash.
