What is it?

Renew your skin with the Skinpulse Super Rejuvenation (SSR) Laser Treatment – an advanced treatment for helping you achieve clear, healthy skin with long-lasting results. Whether your concern is ageing, acne or age spots, SSR can help deliver your desired outcome.

SSR uses SkinPULSE laser technology, which combats a variety of skin issues by hitting them at their root cause. By emitting safe, high energy light directly into your problem area(s), SSR can be used for the following:

  • reducing the signs of ageing, such as wrinkles and age spots
  • treating benign skin pigments
  • combating acne conditions
  • treating rosacea
  • removing vascular lesions and thread veins

In the sections below, we discuss the wide range of benefits in more detail…

How does it work?

Skinpulse Super Rejuvenation (SSR) Laser Treatment is excellent for treating a number of problems as outlined below. This laser-based technology essentially emits high-energy pulses of light into the skin, which can reap a number of benefits. Scroll down below to find the best treatment for you.

Facial rejuvenation and wrinkle reduction

SSR IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology can work wonders for restoring plumpness and radiance to your face by inducing collagen production. The procedure emits pulses of safe light energy, which are converted into heat. When this heat is specifically focused on the deeper layers of your skin, it stimulates the formation of brand new collagen fibres and elastin – that’s the magic stuff that gives your skin firmness and elasticity. The result is healthy, young and fresh-looking skin.

Acne

The high energy light in SkinPULSE technology combats the “propionic bacteria” that causes inflammation in acne. The intense pulsed light also reduces the size of the sebaceous glands in your skin and the amount of sebum (oil) those glands produce.

For a more detailed explanation of how this works, porphyrins (naturally occurring molecules in the inflamed acne) absorb light in the blue wavelength spectrum. When porphyrins absorb light in this wavelength spectrum, heat is produced. This process, known as a “photo-thermal process”, releases chemical substances that can selectively destroy the propioni bacteria. The result is clearer, healthier, trouble-free skin.

Pigmentation, age spots and rosacea

Benign skin pigmentations can also be treated very efficiently using SSR’s laser technology. When excessive pigments are exposed to this treatment, your melanin (the dark skin pigment in the skin) converts SSR’s highly energetic pulsed light into heat. This conversion of energy causes the pigment to clot. As a result, the melanin flocculates (gathers in small clumps) and is “drawn” to your outer layer of your skin. The problem pigment is then shed bit by bit in the form of tiny skin flakes.

Vascular lesions and thread veins

Problems such as vascular lesions and thread veins can be cosmetically – and safely – removed using SSR treatments. The technology’s controlled light pulse is absorbed by the dark-red, oxygen-rich blood of the problem vessel and converted into heat. This energy conversion causes the blood to clot and the vessel to “weld” shut. Your body’s lymphatic system breaks down the coagulated blood and transports it away naturally.

How long does the treatment take to work?

This will vary depending on your specific concern and your own goals, with repeat treatments likely to be required. However, you should reap benefits immediately after each SSR session. The effects of the treatment also continue to work over the coming weeks/months. Our skin expert will discuss this with you during your initial consultation.

What is the downtime?

There is no downtime with Skinpulse Super Rejuvenation procedures.

Does it hurt?

You may experience warm or tingling sensations, or a fleeting “hot pinch” during treatment, but Skinpulse Super Rejuvenation is otherwise painless and relatively short.

How many treatments are needed?

The number of SSR treatments will vary depending on the issues you are treating. Our skin specialist will help create the best treatment plan for you and monitor your progress during free reviews.

Facial rejuvenation treatments are generally conducted as a course of six to eight sessions with approximately one to two weeks in between. The collagen continues to develop for eight to 12 weeks, so you will continue to see the effects over this time. The course can then be followed with a maintenance treatment after around once a month. Maintaining an appropriate skincare regimen at home is also required for optimising results. Again, you will be advised on this by our skin specialist.

Pigmentation, age spots and rosacea all require a course of three treatments to treat the area. In most instances this will be enough, on occasions, you may need an extra single treatment.

Similarly, thread veins require a course of three treatments. Again, in most instances this will be enough, but on occasions you may need an extra single treatment.

We also offer interest free finance on treatments above £280 and on selected packages.

  • Tanned skin can be treated provided the tan is not active. Therefore, avoid direct sun exposure to the area being treated for at least 5 days prior to treatment. When using SkinPulse SSR tanned skin can be treated immediately as long as there is no sunburn/ sensitivity in the area.
  • The use of tanning creams must be discontinued 2 weeks before treatment.
  • You must avoid bleaching, plucking or waxing hair in that treated area for 6 weeks prior to treatment and do not wax, epilate or pluck or remove hair by any other means than shaving as during the course of treatment.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, Zovirax may be used prior to treatment and continued one week after the treatment should the treatment area be around the cold sore prone areas.
  • If you have been on antibiotics, we ask that you leave 2 weeks between finishing the course and having a Skin Pulse SSR treatment.
  • The area to be treated must be shaved on the day of the treatment, however shaving immediately prior to treatment may make the skin more sensitive so please allow sufficient time in between.
  • A broad spectrum physical (UVA/UVB) sunscreen of SPF30+ should be applied whenever exposed to the sun.
  • We advise not using any skincare that contains AHA, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid or Retinoic Acid (ex. Retin A) for 5 days prior to treatment.

Please note that results vary from person to person due to lifestyle, external and internal factors, and genetic predispositions.
