What are Toxin Injections?

Toxin Injections are one of the most popular non-surgical aesthetic treatments available, they are commonly used for smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles- but also have many other uses too.

How does this treatment work?

As we age, overactive muscle movement gradually wears away collagen – that’s the skin’s structuring protein – causing our skin to crease. Botulinum Toxin relaxes these muscles, smoothing out your facial lines and preventing the formation of wrinkles. While this popular product specifically targets treated muscles, it also allows the surrounding muscles to function normally. That means you can smile, laugh, frown or pull whatever face you want to – just with less wrinkles!

How long does it last?

For facial lines and wrinkles, results are noticeable from just two to 14 days after the injection and last for up to six months. Botulinum Toxin / Botox® injections for facial lines are not permanent; we recommend repeat treatments every three to six months to maintain the effects. Over time, you may notice that the repeat treatments work more effectively, and tend to last longer with each subsequent treatment.

Other conditions treated with Botulinum Toxin injections will require slightly different intervals. Our specialist doctor will discuss this with you during your consultation.

Is there any Downtime involved?

As we age, overactive muscle movement gradually wears away collagen – that’s the skin’s structuring protein – causing our skin to crease. Botulinum Toxin relaxes these muscles, smoothing out your facial lines and preventing the formation of wrinkles. While this popular product specifically targets treated muscles, it also allows the surrounding muscles to function normally.
