Platelet-Rich- Plasma (PRP) Therapy (“Vampire face lift”)

What is it?
Platelet-rich-Plasma (PRP) therapy is a completely natural method for skin rejuvenation and repair based on using your own plasma to inject in the treated areas to cause your skin to regenerate and to reverse the signs of ageing like pigmentation, lines, loose skin, but also scaring.

This procedure has been talked about much in the media and is frequently also being referred to as the “Vampire” or the “Dracula” facelift.

It is based on harnessing the natural healing power of your own blood’s plasma – hence the “vampire” or the “dracula” lift. The platelets in our blood contain many “growth factors”.

These are proteins that promote the healing of damaged skin, including healing of aged skin. Following the injection, the platelets release these proteins (referred to as growth factors), which in turn trigger surrounding cells to proliferate and to repair damage; as a result the skin volume increases and the skin becomes firmer, radiant and rejuvenated.

What are the benefits of PRP Therapy?
PRP therapy can be used on:

  • the face, especially around the eyes, mouth and nose, the jowls
  • the back of your hands
  • scars, including surgical scars, acne scars
  • the neck
  • stretch marks
  • for hair growth in baldness (men and women)

During the treatment in our clinic, the doctor will take a small amount of your blood. This will be processed and filtered to isolate your plasma that contains the platelets.  The platelet-rich-plasma will be then injected in the areas to be treated, where the platelets release their growth factors.

These stimulate the cells around the injection site plumping them up, stimulating collagen production, and causing them to increase in volume.

The Results?
It will take a few weeks for the results of the PRP treatment to show, but with 2 to 3 top-up treatments, the results of PRP therapy can last for up to 12, or even 18 months. There is no recovery time and no side- effects.

You can resume your normal activities immediately. Occasionally some minor bruising and redness in the injected areas can appear. In your initial consultation, our doctor will discuss with you the indications and your suitability for this treatment.
